JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 1, 2021) — Reputation Ink, a public relations and content marketing agency serving B2B professional services firms, celebrates 10 years in business today.
Founded by Michelle Calcote King with just one client, the agency is now a team of eight professionals serving more than 20 clients across the United States, including corporate law firms, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms and other professional services entities.
“While we’re excited to reach this milestone, in many ways we feel like we’re just getting started,” said King, the agency’s Principal & President. “In the last few years we took steps to shape the agency’s future, including narrowing our focus to serve professional services firms, launching a robust thought leadership strategy and closing our physical office so that everyone on the team can work from home full-time.”
The agency’s team includes both industry veterans with 20-plus years of legal, AEC and B2B marketing and PR experience, as well as younger team members with journalism backgrounds.
While public relations is a long-established discipline, in 2011 the content marketing industry was just getting started. In fact, the Content Marketing Institute was founded the same year as Reputation Ink.
“When I launched Reputation Ink, content marketing was in its infancy,” King said. “Thankfully I had a few clients who trusted my expertise and allowed us to implement innovative content marketing strategies that have resulted in many millions of dollars in ROI. This helped us convince more clients that content was the future of marketing.”
In addition to content marketing’s dramatic rise, the agency’s more established discipline — public relations — has undergone a radical transformation over Reputation Ink’s 10 years in business.
“The media industry has changed dramatically since our agency’s inception,” King said. “Social media has exploded, media outlets have either died or transformed, the news cycle is 24/7 and newsrooms are now forced to do more with less. Blogs and podcasts are skyrocketing, and contributed content is on the rise. Investing in proactively managing your reputation is no longer a nice-to-have but an essential part of growing a business.”
The agency has won numerous awards over the past 10 years, including several ADDYs, the Legal Marketing Association’s Your Honor Awards, the Zweig Marketing Excellence Award, Bulldog PR Award, PR Daily’s 2020 Digital Marketing & Social Media Award, Communicator Award of Excellence awards, Construction Marketing Association (CMA) annual STAR Awards and many more.
In 2020, Reputation Ink launched a podcast, Spill the Ink, focused on law firm brand visibility and thought leadership. The agency also produces a monthly legal marketing newsletter called INKsights. King has plans for additional value-added content for clients and potential clients in other sectors the agency represents that will launch later in 2021.
