American Advertising Award honors creativity, originality, creative strategy

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Content marketing, lead generation and public relations firm Reputation Ink has won a gold ADDY award for its holiday video campaign, “F*ck 2016: Marketer’s Plea to Santa,” in the self-promotion category. The annual ADDY Awards in Jacksonville is the first of a three-tier national competition conducted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). This is Reputation Ink’s second-ever ADDY entry and second gold-level win. Over 300 entries were judged on creativity, originality and creative strategy.

“When we added video to our firm’s offerings last year, we knew the medium would be a perfect way to wish clients and prospects a happy holiday season while showing off our technical capabilities and unique style,” said Michelle Calcote King, Reputation Ink’s principal and president. “We’ve always used our holiday card as a way to push the envelope and display our brand voice in a way that disrupts the typical corporate, dry feel of the business-to-business space.”

HolidayVideoshoot

Reputation Ink sent the video to clients, friends of the agency, as well as thought leaders in the content marketing industry.

Committed to print holiday cards in the past, Reputation Ink broke its own rules with a video card. The Reputation Ink team wrote the script, directed, filmed and produced the video in-house with the help of video production company EMN8 for touch-ups and graphics. Reputation Ink sourced its talent locally, turning to the agency’s local neighborhood, historic Springfield, to find seven-year-old Tijs Rienks to star in the video.

The holiday video features a child on the night before Christmas writing his wishes after a rather tough 2016. The young boy’s use of adult language, cultural references and marketing jargon like “SEO optimization” is met with the innocence of restlessly waiting for Santa with cookies and milk (in an oversized wine glass).

Reputation Ink’s past holiday cards have used clever wording to educate their audience on content marketing with various formats, including poetry and the award-winning game “Crimes Against Content: The Content Marketing & PR Party Game.” The firm made this year’s award-winning video available to view and share on its website.
